Zoo boo
Mamaw and Papaw came up yesterday and we all went to the Zoo for their "Zoo Boo!" It was a lot of fun - so many kids dressed up in cute costumes. There were amazing decorations throughout the zoo and there was even trick or treating in the plains section.
We were also lucky enough to see the cheetahs being very social. They kept walking back and forth right in front of the glass. Luke kept grinning and laughing - I think he thought they were just like his kitties at home.

Happy little monkey
So the Halloween costume that won was ....... a monkey!
When we put this hat on him we knew we had to it. (We've slightly obsessed with hats with ears ever since he was born.)
We got together with Aunt Karen today to take some pictures - I think he had a pretty good time with it!
He loved eating the leaves
I like to call this one "a monkey learning to crawl" (Which I suppose must happen before they learn to swing through the trees)

The hunt for the Halloween costume
Luke's costume will be debuted tomorrow when we go to Zoo Boo, but until then, here are some that didn't make the cut.
His first costume was going to be Tigger. I bought it at a garage sale last year, thinking that a 6-9 month costume would be perfect. We tried it on awhile back and realize that probably wasn't going to work. Still cute though!
Then Luke's friend Andrew let us borrow his frog costume. We loved that one too, but I really wanted a costume we could keep.
In between all of that, we also toyed with the idea of a puppy dog.
And I don't even know what this was going to be, but I couldn't resist snapping some pictures. Doesn't he make a pretty girl?
He wasn't so sure about it ...

Mama, my ears hurt
Poor little guy hasn't been sleeping well (woke up 12 times one night, and the following night was just mostly awake all night - although we can't complain - we got to watch a lot of the first miners being rescued that night.) We know that he's working on two teeth (can see them under the gums) but I took him in anyways just to make sure we weren't dealing with something else. (He never had a fever, but he really never does.)
Turns out he had a double ear infection. He's feeling a lot better and was back to sleeping through the night last night (7:30pm to 6:30am - yay!) This is his 3rd ear infection - they said that if we hit 5 or 6 within a year then we'll have to talk tubes. I'm hoping it slows down - so far they seem mostly related to when he's teething.
**The picture was actually taken tonight when he was bouncing up and down and having fun. I have no idea why he suddenly stopped and put his hands on his ears, but had to get a picture.)
Some progress!
Luke has started to figure out the rock back and forth on his hands and knees thing. I'm not sure I want to encourage this. I encouraged the rolling over and now he won't lay still to change his diaper. I think it's one of those "be careful what you wish for" things.
Noises
Luke has been quite vocal lately. Still won't say dada, as much as we (Jason) try, but he can squeal with the best of them.
He's been making a new clicking noise too - you may have to turn it up a bit to hear it.
And this was today - he's a genius child I tell you. (Ok, ok ... so he's actually been saying bababa all week, and this was a coincidence - but still pretty cool that I caught it on camera.)

Weekend in Brown County
Last weekend we went down to Brown County and spent the weekend in a cabin. We had such a great time! We went with my mom, my sister and Matt, and my brother and Haley.
Most of the pictures are in this album, but here are some of my favorites of Luke (because let's be real - that's probably why 99% of you read this blog)

Luke had his own special little camp chair, bought just for this occasion (although I'm sure will get plenty more use)
This first morning we were there, Luke and I were the first ones up. He didn't want to be left by himself in the other room, so I stuck him in the sink. Hey, you gotta do what you gotta do.
On Saturday we first made a stop at the Brown County Winery.
Luke was sad that he couldn't taste any.
We made it up to him though when we went into Nashville, where Luke got to try some of my dutch apple ice cream. After the first few bites, I'm pretty sure he thought it was his, and got mad at me when I'd eat some.
It was a big food weekend for him - he also got to have pancakes one morning!
The rest of our time was spent relaxing, fishing in the pod, hanging out in the hot tub. Can't wait to do it again next year!

Pumpkin Patch
We are so excited that fall is finally here! We went to Stony Creek in Noblesville to get our pumpkins this weekend and had a great time - even though they did not have apple cider slushies. There were however straw mazes, hayrides, a crazy turkey that chased us, and of course, pumpkins!
Luke was pretty excited about the animals.

Time to pick a pumpkin! We sat him behind that one, but he kept reaching out and touching the other ones, like he was thinking about them - and then he'd go back to his. It was obviously superior. :)
Say cheese! (We get this face a lot - we're not exactly sure why, but it cracks me up every time he does it.)
Later up this month: a weekend in Brown County, going to Zoo-Boo! with Mamaw and Papaw, trick-or-treating, and finally having some apple cider slushy! We love fall!

Our weekend
Luke and I started a swim class on Friday and had so much fun! Lots of singing and splashing. It runs for 8 weeks - I think he'll be ready to compete against Michael Phelps when it's all over.
We were getting ready to give Luke a bath tonight and when taking his onesie off noticed that he had stored some puffs to eat later.
We went down to Bloomington this weekend to visit Mamaw and Papaw.
Luke loved playing with the hats that Mamaw bought.
And lastly, we have a backwards mover on our hands.
Tonight he started about 5 feet away from the table, got himself all turned around and scooted under the table. I'm not ready for this!
