I think I could get used to this!

Look what I found!

See this?? It's my hand! I like to wave them around in front of my face and stare at them cross eyed.

Back to work

I started back to work this week and it wasn't quite as traumatic as I thought it would be - I think the lead up was worse. He stayed with Grandma this week so that it would be an easier transition for me. I got to call and check up on his as much as I wanted, I had pictures sent to me during the day, and I even had a visit for lunch on Monday! From now on he'll be at her house on Mondays, daycare on Tues-Thurs, and then I have Friday's off (yay!)

He wasn't really himself this week (either from the shots on Tuesday, or maybe just because being at grandma's was "different"), but he still had some good moments.

He loves the mobile at grandma's house as much as the one at ours:

We went to dinner Friday night with some friends that we originally met through Jason's car club, so Luke wore a shirt that was quite fitting. (It says "My daddy drives a fast car.")

Just a smiling happy baby on Saturday morning:

Learning to sit in his bumbo seat ... he's sort of cheating in this picture - if he leaned his head back a little then it was resting against the couch. He's getting so much better at his head/neck control though!

Weekend mornings are great for play time ... and that can wear a little boy out!

2 month appt

Luke had his 2 month appointment on Tuesday and did great! He weighed 13lbs 14oz (89%), was 24 1/2" long (91%), and head was 42.3cm (92%.) So he's a growing machine! He was so happy for them and when they put him on his tummy to check his back he had his head several inches off the ground and moved it around. (And on that note, this morning I was holding him in a sitting position on my lap and hand my hands down further so wasn't supporting his neck and he had perfect control of his neck!) It may not be too long before we try out the bumbo chair.

They said we probably ought to quite swaddling him at night. She said that while it could still be awhile, he's moving so much that rolling over could happen sooner rather than later and it would be better if he wasn't swaddled.

Food wise, we're going to try 6oz bottles now. The 5oz ones don't seem to satisfy him anymore.

He got his vaccines (and Jason had to leave about 5 minutes BEFORE that!) and the cry was just awful. I've never really heard that "I'm in so much pain" cry before. He did some at hte last appt, but not like that. He fell asleep before we ever left the office and just seemed really tired the rest of the day. At one point he started crying in his sleep and that's when we broke down and gave him some tylenol. He didn't have a fever yesterday but ended up with a slight one tonight.

"Look how big I am!"

Who said this was daddy's car?

"This is MY car!"

2 months old today!!!

Our little boy is 2 months old today!

I'm not sure how he does it, but I swear he just gets cuter and cuter all the time. :)

He's growing and changing daily. His 2 month appt isn't until Tuesday, but I weighed him at home and he was 13lbs, 7 oz. That's up exactly 2 1/2 lbs from when I weighed him at one month. He's graduated to 3-6 months clothes, and size 2 diapers. (Technically he can still wear some of the 0-3 clothes, but most seem to be too short.)

Some fun things about him right now:

- He smiles at us all the time now!
- He also loves to "talk" - especially if he's in more of a sitting up position.
- His neck control gets better each day - he's still not quite ready for the bumbo seat, but we're getting there.
- He loves to lay in the crib and watch his little mobile friends above. Most of the time he'll talk to them while they go around. He also uses this as exercise time as his little feet just kick away.
- He still loves his play mat and the lights/music above him.
- He learned to stick out his tongue.
- He's learning to suck his thumb.
- He's starting to grasp objects and hold onto them for awhile. He doesn't reach for anything yet, but I swear sometimes I can see the wheels in his head turning as he tries to figure out how he can get to that thing that I'm holding in front of him.
- He loves to play the car game with daddy. Jason holds him on his legs and makes car engine noises. He moves him forward and back when they would be accelerating and breaking. Luke is pretty excited at this game.
- He actually seems to enjoy bath time now and we'll get lots of smiles during them.
- He's eating around 5 oz at a time - and goes between 3-4 hours during the day. At night we sometimes get up to 7 hours, although most of the time it's more like 5 1/2 or 6.
- He's not on a schedule, but for the most part has fallen into a routine. Typically he'll eat, and then be awake and play for about an hour and 15 min and then he starts to get cranky and will take a nap. Wake up, and repeat. It's not a constant thing - sometimes he's awake the entire time between "meals" and other times he sleeps the whole time.

A little froggie is learning to suck his thumb

Sometimes I feel like such a mean mean mommy. :)

PS - If you're seeing this in google reader and you have several different posts - I'm sorry! I've been trying out different things/layouts and keep changing my mind with it.

Happy being outside

We have loved this beautiful weather!

Pretend that it's not 70 degrees outside

How cute is this hat?!? We received it as a gift yesterday and while it was 70 degrees out and the hat is a little big (it should hopefully be great for next winter) we just had to take a picture of it.

What a difference a month makes!!

This was Luke's first time in the pod bathtub - back on March 9th.

And this was today, April 11th.

My little boy is growing up! :)

A new car!

Yes, I know I already posted about the Mazda 5, but we just got another new car! For those of you that know Jason you might want to sit down for this - but he decided (all on his own, I swear I had nothing to do with it!) to sell the Datsun AND the jeep. He just didn't have enough time to work on them and wanted something a little more practical. (And luckily he made a profit on both! I wonder if he could have a full time job of flipping cars?) :)

Anyways, he bought this beautiful 2004 Infiniti G35x. I'm happy because it's automatic and 4 doors. Jason is happy because it's Turbo charged. And Luke is happy because it's another nice place to take a nap (and Jason says because his daddy still has a fast car to drive.)

Play date #2

We had our friend Karen and her little boy Aaron over on Friday for a play date. Tricia and her twin girls were going to join us, but something came up. We still had fun but I think the boys missed having the girls there.

Luke and Aaron are about 5 days apart, although I think my little guy is about 4 lbs heavier. So what does a playdate look like with two 7 week olds?
I think they're trying to talk the other one into going to get the toy that is in front of them.

And then all tuckered out!

Tummy time fail

Luke was supposed to be doing tummy time to work on strengthening his neck. Instead he thought it would be a good time to sleep - although I think that little grin gave him away. He was actually just pretending to sleep so I'd leave him alone. :)

Playing outside 4/6/10

We were over at my mom's last week and took Luke outside to play. He likes being out there but even in the shade has problems opening up his eyes all the way.

We tried sunglasses:

then a hat:

then both! I think he's going to hate us one day for this. :)

We also put his toes in the grass for the first time. I couldn't really tell what he thought of that.

Luke's latest trick

Luke learned to stick his tongue out the other day and seemed quite pleased with himself. Now he does it all the time! Such a cutie!

Flying super baby!

A baby who only wants to take cat naps

Looks like this for 5 minutes:

And then turns into this:

Poor little guy had a rough day. I'm not sure if he was just overly exhausted from the weekend, is going through a growth spurt, or is just getting bored with hanging out with his mommy all day. Regardless, he just really didn't want to sleep today. We had some moments of play time and then I'd get a peaceful sleeping baby for about 15 minutes - and then he'd turn into a screaming banshee. Ok, it wasn't that bad - but the poor little guy just couldn't seem to relax. Hopefully tomorrow is better!

Random cuteness

Luke got all dressed up to celebrate his Uncle Pat's birthday - he thought the occasion deserved a tie. (Thanks to Aunt Karen for this onesie!)

Amazing ooey gooey goodness

The "Pioneer Woman Cinnamon Rolls" are pretty popular in my internet world and my sister and I decided to make them this weekend. Everyone needs to try these - they are SO good.

I'm not even going to put descriptions with the pictures - just be warned that you will be drooling by the end.
